FOCUS ON PISCES/REVATI: THE SPIRITUAL PAUSE THAT REFRESHES

EYE ON THE SKY: FOCUS  ON REVATI

Planets are starting to move into the constellation of zeta-Piscium (Pisces 16.40-30.00) which consists of around 27 faint stars  forming the tail of the fish in the constellation of Pisces .   In Vedic astrology this constellation is know as Revati meaning wealthy or transcendental.  Given the connection to the 12th sign of the zodiac connected to moksha or liberation the two meanings remind us that spiritual practice is our real wealth or the wealth that never dies.  Venus moved into Revati on March 15th and stays there until March 26th. Mercury moved into there March 13th and stays there until April 3rd.   The Sun travels through Revati March 31-April 13th every year so if you were born during that period, Revati has a strong impact on your life.

Revati is a very satvic or a pure constellation so the spring transits mark the beginning of or completion of the spiritual journey of winter and the completion of inner contemplation before we move into the Rajasic and active nakshatras (Ashwini-Ashlesha) of the spring that push us into action and the craziness of the world.

Pushan is the deity of this constellation and is connected to purity, goodness, devotion, guidance and gentility.  Pushan as the deity of marriage ceremony connected to this ideal constellation becomes the mentor and symbol for ideal relationships that foster future generations and keep the seed of future life abundant and full with pure values.  Still if Jupiter the depositor of Pisces is afflicted in transit as it is now, it can create too much idealism around relationships and seeking the perfect mate and this can lead to disappointment. In a sense exalted planets have too much energy and can be out of balance and Venus in Taurus or Libra may actually do better as placements for Venus as the more ideal place because exalted planets sometimes have too much energy and can blow people out with their spiritual idealism.   Still we are enjoying the greatness of this transit but just wanted to point out it is out of balance.

The deity Pushan, connected to the Sun, who lights the paths to the Divine and is connected to travel whether mental journeys or spiritual pilgrimages.  Both are the same.  As Saul Bellow’s character in Henderson the Rain King proclaims, “all travel is mental travel.”  Hence our outer quests are part of our inner quest to return to the Divine.

Mercury in Revati is at least past its exact point of debilitation at 15 degrees Pisces but Mercury still suffers from spiritual idealism when it needs to be rational and practical and down to earth and back to business.  Still the deep philosophical and spiritual rich energy of Revati, allows the mind to expand its horizons, be deeper philosophical thinkers and push without restrictions into the deep realms of mystical and spiritual inquiry.  Good time to read deeply philosophical books and spiritual writing and to create your own treatises on the nature of the Infinite.

The Sanskrit name for Mercury is Buddha (the enlightened one) and Mercury’s sense of humor reminds us that the journey to the Divine does not have to be a heavy and serious one but can be filled with tricks from the Guru and laughter.  Still Mercury cannot lead us to the Divine without Jupiter the Guru so Mercury in Pisces and particularly in Revati has some spiritual power even if it takes Mercury away from its practical and logical and business nature. Time for a break!

The Revati transits inspire us to move more toward our inner Divinity so think of an Easter weekend spiritual retreat or find something sooner. Take a meditation class or start studying Vedic astrology.

The famous Pisces fish represent the fish swimming its path in the sea is connected to life-path and the path to liberation but it is more as it is connecting to the universal mind and reminds us of the true meaning of Jai Guru Dev, Victory to the Big Mind.  Only by letting go of our small ego and surrendering to the Divine will, do we stand a chance of transcending the changing world.

All the Revati energy  should lighten the heavy Saturn/Mars conjunction  that will really start dominating March 27-April 11th this  year and provide some spiritual upliftment.   Use these transits to contemplate and discover the infinite nature of the Divine and begin new spiritual journey–both inner and outer.

Special thanks to Prash Trivedi  and Komilla Sutton for their insights into the wonderful constellation and to all my Gurus that continue to light the path.  Blessing to you all this weekend .
