FATAL FLAWS BY RISING SIGN PART 2: THE HIDDEN CURSES

Hidden Flaws By Rising Sign: The Achilles Heel Part 2

by Andrew Foss and Barry Rosen

This is Part of an article is based primarily on a lecture given by Andrew at the Spring 2015 BAVA International Conference as also notes made by Barry at this and other lectures by Sanjay Rath and Bill Levacy. It introduces and explains the traditional concept of an inherent issue for each Zodiacal sign.

Our rising sign, which is called the Lagna in Vedic astrology, represents our personality, our temperament, disposition, tendencies, confidence, self-love and self-esteem and its afflictions reveal our inherent internal struggles. If the owner of the rising sign is strong and well-placed in his own or exalted sign or in friend’s houses or aspected by benefics, then he brings out his best qualities.

BEYOND ASPECTS: THE NUTS AND BOLTS OF UNDERSTANDING HIDDEN SUPPORT AND INTERFERENCE IN CHARTS–ARGALA

THE PSYCHOLOGICAL DIMENSIONS OF ARGALA: FINDING EASY WAYS TO UNDERSTAND AND INTERPRET HIDDEN SUPPORT AND INTERFERENCES  IN CHARTS

by Barry Rosen

Argala is a very important concept in Vedic astrology discussed by Maharisi Parashara in Chapter 33 of the BPHS and in more detail by Jaimini and has a very important influence on peoples charts and planetary cycles which is often overlooked. It is simpler than it first appears and one has to get over all the difficult Sanskrit terms quickly and get the basic concepts down and then it is easy.

Argala means bolt or interference but I like to translate it as hidden support .  It is  a deep and somewhat hidden karmic influence in a chart and is easily overlooked because it involves planetary combinations or house axises  that we do not look at...

VENUS INTO GEMINI/CASTOR AND POLLUX: AUGUST 12-21ST

EYE ON THE SKY: VENUS IN PUNARVASU AUGUST 12-21ST

And now for a bright spot for the month! Venus  transited into one of my favorite constellations, Punarvasu (Gemini 20-Cancer 3.20) know by Western astronomers as Castor and Pollux.    Punarvasu means “the return of the light” and has the divine ability to bring spiritual light into darkness and it  reflects purity, satya (truth) and strong moral values.  It’s shakti or power is “the ability to gain wealth or abundance”. The main deity is Aditi, the Cosmic Mother, who bestows her creative abundance on all who seek her blessings. This lunar mansion is ruled by the planet Jupiter, the great benefic.

Venus in the constellation of Purnavasu August 13-24th (Gemini 20-Cancer 3...

RAHU INTO CANCER/ KETU INTO CAPRICORN AUGUST 17/SEPT 9 PART 1

EYE ON THE SKY: RAHU INTO CANCER/KETU INTO CAPRICORN

The North and South Nodes, Rahu and Ketu, which create eclipses, govern our desire nature in the material world and desire to leave the world and discover the Divine. In the mean node system, Rahu transits into Cancer on August 17th and Ketu into Capricorn and in the true node system on Sept. 9th. I prefer true nodes for transits but it is still a big transition and will have a huge impact until March 2019.

Rahu and the Moon are enemies as Rahu is friends with Mercury and exalted in Gemini and would rather work on the intellectual realm. In the sign of Cancer it will bring up phobias and fears and have more discomfort with feelings...

SUN CONJUNCT RAHU AND GANDANTA: MOVING TOWARD THE ECLIPSE AUGUST 14-20TH

EYE ON THE SKY: SUN MOVING TOWARD THE ECLIPSE

The Sun is considered afflicted when it is within 3 degrees of Rahu and so that is the case August 14-20th.  In the Western world this may not be considered a bad thing because the conjunction promotes expanding  your power and success at the cost of your Divinity.  This can lead to attention and even minor fame but the negative side is also enhanced with too much ambition and selfishness and rigidity of ideas.   Inside you may fear failure.  This conjunction can promote deeper relationships with foreigners or immigrants and with the affliction, you reputation may be hurt so for Leo rising, possible that a foreign person may harm your reputation or create scandal...

MERCURY RETROGRADE IN LEO: AUGUST 12-SEPT 5TH

MERCURY RETROGRADE IN LEO AUGUST 3-22ND

Mercury goes retrograde on Saturday so get all your pre-retrograde communciations in order, back-up your computers,  get out important business and marketing campaigns early.  This is the third of the fire sign retrogrades as the last two were in Aries and Sagittarius.  Mercury retrograde is not not bad for everyone and it will depend on your rising sign and the houses that are being transited through.  In general, Mercury retrograde is most difficult for Cancer, Scorpio and Pisces rising and Taurus and Libras will not notice it much with 4th and 11th house transits. Aquarius and Leo will have more relationship issues.  Virgos and Geminis will notice it most.

Mercury will be combust in the sign of Leo August 19–Sept...

DEALING WITH FEAR, ECLIPSES AND SATURN: YOU ARE SAFE

EYE ON THE SKY: DEALING WITH FEAR

With the eclipses coming and Saturn starting to slow down and go direct into August 25th, fear is mounting in the world and in conversations with people.  Will we start a war with Russia or North Korea?  Will global warming get us?   There is a lot of fear up because 10 days before Saturn goes direct and afterward, which will mean August 15-Sept 2, fear and intensity will increase. Today’s lunar eclipse can bring up a lot of emotional intensity and fear also. What do we do?

There are good things happening also. Venus is fairly strong and also Jupiter and they tend to uphold the world...

MARS in CANCER/ ASHLESHA: AUGUST 6-26 –HOLD YOUR CRITICAL TONGUE

EYE ON THE SKY:  MARS INTO ASHLESHA/HYDRA

Mars  moves into the constellation of Ashlesha (Hydra, Cancer 16.40-29.59) on August 6th  and journeys through there until it goes into Leo on August 26th.  Of the 27 constellations in the zodiac, Ashlesha can stir up more emotional turmoil than many others so with two planets here, the Sun and Mars we have more trouble happening.   Watch out for  vicious communication arguments and speaking out and lashing out at people without thinking so hold your tongue and wait before your bust forth in anger.

The darker side of this constellation is that it can make Mercury and planets connected to the constellation (like the Sun and Mars in transit) impolite, tactless, unpopular, lacking in social skills, dismissive rules, lacking gratitude, depressed...
