UNDERSTANDING MARS/RAHU CONNECTIONS –WILD AND RECKLESS

EYE ON THE SKY:  MARS CONJUNCT RAHU CONNECTIONS IN NATAL CHARTS  AND IN TRANSIT

Rahu, the planet of desire and ambition will be conjunct  Mars the planet of action exactly on June 14th-16th  in the mean node system.  When they are within 3-5  degrees of each other, there is a strong influence and that will come into play June 7-21st but they are still both together in the same zodiacal sign  and the influence is there until late June 22nd.  Given that the Mars/Saturn/Rahu/Ketu/Pluto connection is so complex, we are breaking down the Mars/Rahu conjunction in detail here.

The transit creates great energy to want to act but Saturn blocks it across the way in Sagittarius creating frustration.  It can easily lead to  to losing one’s temper easily. The key with this transit is take the energy for creative purposes and channel it to create great inventions or technological advancements but avoid being hasty or over-enthusiastic or accidents and overworking could stress the adrenals.  Health-wise, blood pressure can be increased if you do not slow down with this energy so be cautious and avoid being reckless or driving like a maniac.  I am seeing this on road now with people passing 3 cars at one time and just making it into the their own lane.   Calm Mars and pita with less spicy food, more coconut water and milk and more meditation. The Warrior Pose will balance Mars and allow it to stay more focused.   Prayers to Hanuman or listening to Hanuman Chalisa are helpful.  (https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=AETFvQonfV8

Since Rahu acts like Saturn and is an enemy of Mars, this aspect can be intense and difficult. It will promote outward courage but the vata/air element of Rahu may promote inner fear.  The tendency may be to lash out recklessly so be cautious.  If you have this aspect in your natal chart, it may promote good achievement with career, athleticism and adventure but avoid recklessness and watch rash tempers that might lead to violence. This energy will be felt strongly on Tuesdays and to a lesser degree on Wednesdays and Saturday (connected to Rahu) and whenever the moon is connected to the two planets.

On a mundane level, this aspect may lead to more political craziness than usual as Mars is about leadership and power and Rahu may drive politicians out of control to make rash decisions.  Mars moving into Leo can promote aggression and war and when it becomes afflicted by Rahu, political leaders may be drawn to pull the trigger and start a conflict.  One has to wonder to wonder if the US ill be stupid enough to go to war with Iran and its 81 million people but Venezuela, which is closer to home and in more dire straits seems a place where it will want to flex it prowess.  Luckily the balance of power with Russia and China and alliances will prevent something major but there will be some mess by the middle of June.

On a spiritual level, Rahu/Mars can foster the courage to move through difficult spiritual challenges as is clear in the chart of Mahatma Gandhi, a great freedom fighter. We have to think that the protesters of France and the rest of the world are going to get stirred up by this aspect and get a bit wilder.  On a mundane level we will always have to worry about  how much turmoil and protest gets stirred up in the world and lets hope that radical  protesting goes peaceful.  This aspect also suggests we have to pray and meditate for the world as terrorist energies will get stirred up a bit.

On a personal level, slow down, rest more.  The adrenals will be firing and if you run around too much you will feel exhausted. Still the energy will be there to accomplish a lot and move through huge boulders and projects so it will at least get you unstuck. Saturn across the way will slow things down and create frustration so watch for huge troughs and valleys on your person energy chart over the next month and be sure to balance your energy.  (End of Part 1)

PART 2:  MARS/RAHU IN YOUR NATAL CHART

My friend Muhammad Imran made a list of qualities that one might have if there was a Mars/Rahu connection in your natal chart.  These qualities are tempered by sign/constellation/aspects also.

The more  negative qualities of Mars/Rahu will get stirred up but you should be aware of the more positive ones also if you have Mars and Rahu well-placed in your natal chart.  Mars has dignity in Capricorn, Aries, Leo and Scorpio in one’s natal chart and Rahu has dignity in Taurus, Gemini, Virgo and Aquarius in a natal chart. In transit it is a mixed picture with Rahu strong in Gemini but Mars weak in dignity in Gemini.   Their exact conjunction in the constellation of Purnarvasu (Gemini 20-Cancer 3.20) connects them to Jupiter and the universal earth mother and will help the situation later in transit with Mars going into that constellation on June 7th.  Some of these tendencies will get stirred up in transit  also.

In a natal chart, the Mars/Rahu combination can bring:

1) a dashing and photogenic appearance  (Aries Rising in particular)
2) athletic enthusiasm, crazy sports supporter (Occurring in Aries, Leo and Sagittarius)
3) penchant for guns, gadgets, and smoking (Connected to Aries or Gemini or 2nd house)
4) reckless driving, and auto-accessories and designs
5) traffic violations, accidents, and bone-fractures
6) many adventurous tours, rushing, mugging
7) taking muscle-building drugs and food-supplements
8) fondness of war/fighting movies, crime stories
9) involvement in rescue/ambulance services, blood donations
10) being a producer/transporter of metals or tobacco
11) mechanic, engineer or builder of mega-structure
12) involvement in high-tech machines, gadgets, robots, hardware
13) involvement in criminology, bomb-disposal, air-crash investigation
14) involvement in terrorist hunting, research on border-disputes
15) having an affluent brother who lives in far away city
16)  having  misunderstanding with brothers, and land disputes
17) crazily loving and then hating an outcast (foreign or gay) partner
18) having a fiery, rough, and wild relationship (in women chart)
19) having an odd, wealthy, or foreign partner (in women chart)
20) having a partner who is passionate hobbyist or addicted to drugs

Some of these influences will show up in transit.

So watch that wild energy or just enjoy it and move with it. Mars can be fun for some when he is wild but many cannot handle the energy so be cautious walking on the wild side and how it will impact others.

What leading astrologers are saying about it:

Barry Rosen has made a valuable contribution to understanding how houses act in hidden ways in a Vedic chart, and his explanations and process are logical and easy to follow. This ranks with the Uttara Kalamrita as a book which reveals the incredible density of meaning contained in the houses in a Vedic chart, which are the most important part of chart interpretation from my perspective. Excellent work-
