FOCUS ON FALL TRANSITS IN LIBRA–NOT ALL THE LOVE AND HARMONY YOU WOULD THINK

EYE ON THE SKY: OCTOBER FOCUS ON LIBRA: SUN, MERCURY AND VENUS

As the planets start moving through the zodiac we will have three planets in Libra soon when the Sun enters on Oct. 17th and joins Mercury and Venus and Jupiter has just left Libra.  I find that Libra is a rather misunderstood sign of the zodiac with its stereotypical balance and harmony placard. In fact if you are born with Libra rising or Libra moon and Venus is afflicted in any way,  you are probably not the balanced and happy person that you are supposed to be.

I find that Libras are psychologically complex individuals that are often never at peace with their psychology  and can be emotional whirlwinds.  Because Mars rules the 7th for Libras, they are often combative rather than the peaceful and harmonious individuals that they are thought to be. They will often seek out the chaotic and go into the maelstrom of their complex minds  and try to create peace out of it. I find many drawn to psychology and counseling as Gemini owns the 9th and so psychological and thoughtful analysis can become a spiritual experience for them and a chance to probe the deep 12th house psychological maelstrom.

Libras do often fall into the artistic and sexual sterotype and Venus is connected to the element of touch so massage and sexual stimulation are important to reinforce their constant quest for love.  Jupiter owns the 3rd and 6th houses and so Libras have difficulty with making decisions and so if  Jupiter is afflicted which can seem like a life and death situation. Trouble with Gurus and advisors can easily surface for the same reason. The Sun is a difficult planet for Libras as it owns the 11th house and creates blocks to listening and hearing and problems with friendships. I often find that Libras get into very complex fights with their friends if Sun is afflicted leading to feeling alone or misunderstood.

Libras embody the blessings of Lakshmi and have ability to bring peace and harmony if Mars is not afflicted in their chart or impacting their 1/7 axis.  They have the unique ability to manifest their desires like a genie and have to remember that power and not get lost in their inner turmoil.   People born in the constellations of Chitra and Swati  (Antares) (0-20 degrees) have more problematic and deeply psychological troubling lives in comparison to Vishaka (20-30).

Libras can be lazy at time and get caught up in the world pleasure and a strong Saturn, its dear friend, is required to help them exercise, work hard and take responsibility in order to evolve.

If Venus is afflicted, we normally think of the challenges of this rising sign as sneaking away from conflict, being too charming or manipulative and capricious, waiting too long to act or being too much of a yes person and chameleon and not exerting one’s self. Mars is the Achilles’ heel planet for this sign and if badly afflicted it may create people who need to rule or dominate others and who have major issues with sexual restraint and ambition and overexerting power. End of Part 1. Part 2 on Oct. Transits below.

Part 2: FALL TRANSITS IN LIBRA

We have written about Venus in Libra at length as it stays there until the end of the year but we also have Mercury in there until Oct. 26th and the Sun goes in there on Oct. 17th.

Mercury has been opposing Uranus the last week which  can may lead to reform and sudden change by destroying the old in preparation for the new, so this is a transit that will be about displacements that force us to let go.  The recent drop in the stock market can be connected to all the tensions between Uranus in Aries and three planets in Libra, an air sign ad we did have Mercury, the signifier for shares, opposite Uranus on Wednesday, Oct. 10th when the stock market dropped very sharply.   I remember this tension also being present in October 1987 when we had Jupiter in Aries opposing Mercury, Venus and the Sun in Libra creating a tension on the Aries/Libra axis.

Mercury in Libra wants a balance between opposites and harmony so its positive qualities of fun loving, love of philosophy, musical and artistic interests and humanitarian energies are enlivened. It also can foster comedic sensibilities, persuasive speaking, love of clubs and spiritual performances. Mercury stays in Libra until October 26th and will benefit Virgos and Gemini rising will do best 2nd and 5th house transits from the ascendant bringing love of family for Virgos and artistic expression, romance and theatrical expression for Virgos.

With Uranus in Aries, Mercury may be spurred to act with a mind that wants to accomplish things too fast, so the ends may not justify the means. Want out for deceit, taking risks, gambling or overly speculative ventures. It’s better to be clever, adaptable and dance your way over the map and keep a steady step, rather than burn your way through it. This is one of the better transits of Mercury for the year as it is unafflicted and supported by its friend Venus so a good time for artistic enterprises, romance and literary pursuits.

Sun goes into Libra on Oct 17th where it is technically debilitated on Oct. 27th at 10 degrees.  The Sun in Libra can be a cruel planet seeing status and being politically ambitious in contrast with Sun in Aries where humanitarian work and personal ambition are used to benefit the world often.

Sun in Libra loses its confidence and power but when unafflicted as we are getting, it can be excellent at team work and doing it together. Still this comes at a loss of going with ones one strengths and being lost in the crowd and learning to sacrifice personal gain and status for the good of the group.

Sun moves into Libra on October 17th and stays there until November 16th. The Sun is moving toward the lowest point of the year of the Sun toward October 27th at 10 degrees Libra. The Sun governs health, leadership and confidence and self-esteem for everyone, so this transit can bring about health issues, depression, poor decisions in government and low self-esteem. The worse part of the transit is usually when the Sun is in the constellation of Swati, which is between October 23 – November 6th.

In early Libra the Sun is still in Chitra, Oct 17-22 (Virgo 23.20-Libra 6.40) and connected to his friend Mars and in a stronger part of Libra is not as bad.

The Sun in Libra transit is particularly difficult for Scorpio rising and Pisces rising as it is a 12th and 8th house transits for them. Taurus rising may have trouble with it as a 6th house transit and Leo risings will particularly feel it. It may bring up poor motivation, poor financial management, headaches and addictions.

The positive side of this transit is that it may create some people that offer good sense, support, and charm and may bring out the ability to work with others better. Libra rising and Aries rising may experience this a bit more. Gemini rising and Virgos may do ok with this transit. Bottom-line is that if the dark side comes up, find ways to do good self-talk and find the fire to move on and do great things if you feel stuck. For everyone, take  care of your health this month, which means watch your diet and addictions and stay on top of your immune system.

The transit of the Sun into Vishaka nakshatra November 6 – 19th connects it to Jupiter and it uplifts it so the worst part is the transit in the constellation Swati when it is connected with Rahu October 23 – November 6th. Our Leo president, Donald Trump will probably not do well with this transit as it can bring out the darkest part of ego when the lesson is learning to work together.
