EYE ON ASTROLOGY:  Saturn  Conjunct Sun :

I learn a lot from my Western astrological friends. While combustion is one of the most damaging things for a planet in Vedic astrology,   it turns out total combustion within the last degree is a blessing.  Saturn will be conjunct the Sun on Monday, Jan 13th  in the Eastern US on at 10:15 am EST but other parts of the world will experience it later. It will be within 1 degree on Jan. 12th and 14th.   While the exact definition of cazimi  is 17 minutes, I find 40 minutes is a useful number and often round it off to 1 degree even. Having a strong Saturn in my chart, I find the Sun/Saturn exact conjunction very energizing and a breath of fresh air.  This year with Saturn and Pluto conjunct on the 12th with the Sun fairly tightly, we have a Pluto cazimi which I have never observed and maybe even dark Pluto can have its positive qualities and positive transformational energies come out.

The exact conjunction of the Sun with Saturn on Jan. 13th  can be a really good thing and is  called cazimi and comes from medieval astrology and it used to refer to planets that are so close to a conjunction with the Sun that they are “in the heart” of the Sun. They actually become energized by the Sun and their most positive qualities come out. This will be a positive for  Saturn on Sunday and Monday   when Saturn is within 40 minutes of the Sun.    An example of cazimi is Oprah Winfrey who has a cazimi Venus in her natal chart; it has made her an incredible star to women and brought out her acting and relationship abilities with the public to a pinnacle. Venus

Saturn Cazimi will impact Capricorn and Aquarius rising in a positive way and also if Saturn is in your first house or if it is your Atamakaraka or planet with the highest degree.  It could bring out hard work, reliability, efficiency, good at following work instructions precisely and could bring deep meditative transcendence.   The 1 day transit is short-lived and by Tuesday  we are back to the intense grunge of Sun/Saturn so watch speeding and be kind to your boss and watch your blood pressure and avoid speeding cause the police department may be a bit more intense than usual if you have to encounter them. If you dashas are Sun/Saturn or Saturn/Sun be particularly careful.
