Finding Your Hidden Personality Flaws and Blind Spots:

Vedic astrology should answer these core questions:

Often that takes seeing your hidden personality flaws and changing them but frequently they are hidden from view. The planets mostly impact our thoughts and emotions and if we understand what is happening, we do not have to buy into their energy. We can observe the formation of thoughts and catch the negative tendencies before they manifest.

Astrology was never intended to strike fear into our hearts. Jyotish means light and that light of knowledge should free us from the grip of any dark thoughts and emotions. Hopefully, the articles in this book will help free you from some of your patterns by analyzing how your mind and emotions are gripped.

Astrology should reveal the puppeteer’s play of strings tugging at our emotions and psychology makes us realize that the planets are hard at work spinning their webs of illusion. In reality, there may not be anything there but a game of “smoke and mirrors.” When we recognize these “shadow” patterns, we have the opportunity to take responsibility and create positive shifts in our lives by taking directed action when we use this newfound awareness. Paramahansa Yogananda said that most of what we call the spiritual battle is really a psychological battle and once that battle is won, the spiritual battle is a short one.

I have used this technique daily for years to create a mental buffer because I know when the temporary shadow will pass. I still have to do the work on myself, but I can be kinder to myself and not beat myself up as much.  We should not be a victim of the stars. My friend and fellow astrologer, Juliana Swanson notes that:

“When we wake up, we realize we are multidimensional and at any given time, there are many possibilities. There are unlimited possibilities seen in the fact that every astrological combination is good for something and bad for something and has a higher, versus a lower expression, depending on the consciousness of the person.”

Divinity and consciousness reside within us. Planets reside within that very consciousness. When we decide to become a victim of the planets, we lessen our inherent Greatness. My spiritual Guru is fond of saying that we should command the planets and not be a victim to them.

Those on a spiritual path will realize this wisdom because we are here to master all archetypal energies of the planets. If they are weak or afflicted in our chart, then we have lessons to learn around them and have to go to that school. If you were born with a weak Mars, you may have not learned the core lessons of service and courage. If you were born with a weak Venus, you have to learn how to compromise and learn to do things together in relationships by having fun through dance, song, and celebration. If you were born with a weak Saturn, the goal may be to learn the value of hard work, to be responsible, and be disciplined with spiritual practice. If you have a weak Sun, then you need to grow in leadership and confidence.

While I favor psychological insight in all my work, we also have to realize that no amount of digging will ever get us through all the mud. If you step into a lake early in the morning when it is very calm and clear, you can see the bottom but once you wade through the muddy bottom, you stir up the mud and it takes a lot of time to settle down.

Psychoanalysis is like that. It brings the past into the present moment and then it takes time for the mud to settle down. Even if we get a water filtration system hooked up to the lake, we could never get rid of all the mud. “Mud is endless.” How many lifetimes have we had accumulating karma? We need to be aware but do not need to swim in the mud forever.
