As a neo-Vedic astrologer, I pay attention to the outer planets and conjunctions within 2 degrees are always significant.  Thursday, Jan. 12th, we have a full moon in Gemini and Venus conjunct Neptune and the combination could create a very special day.

Dennis Harness has discussed that there is some Vedic basis for the outer planets:

“According to Mr. Desai, he saw an ancient Vasistha Nadi palm leaf in a museum in Madras, India, which predicted that three important grahas or planets would be discovered by the jyotishis of the Kali Yuga. The great seer Vasistha was the author of a number of hymns in the Rg Veda (dated 3000 BC) and was considered a great priest of the kings. According to the ancient palm leaf the names of the grahas or planets would be Prajapati, Varuna, and Yama. The palm leaf went on to reveal that the jyotishi’s of Kali Yuga would need to decipher the significance and meaning of these powerful grahas. It was refreshing to hear a traditional jyotishi from India speak with such an open mind toward the influence of the outer planets.

Varuna is the lord of the cosmic waters and is associated with the mysterious laws of fate. He is a powerful, mystical healer and is the lord of maya or illusion. Varuna is the bestower of spiritual wisdom and the god of cosmic medicines. In the early cycles of Creation all the gods together approached Varuna and said to him: “May you accept the lordship of all waters on earth and protect us all. May you ever dwell in the ocean, refuge of the aquatic creatures. The great ocean, the husband to all the rivers and streams, would thus remain subservient to you. You would swell and shrink along with the Moon”.4 This sounds strikingly similar to the role and meaning of Neptune, god of the mystical seas, in modern Tropical astrology.”

Venus conjunct Neptune in Aquarius at about 17 degrees will impact Libra and Taurus rising most and then on a secondary level, Aquarius and Leo Risings. If you have planets in the 15-19th degrees of those signs, you may feel the impact most.  At the highest, this transit denotes refined spirituality and devotional love but given that Venus is close to Mars and Ketu and hemmed in between, it may lead to disappointments and tensions with loved-ones who have not lived up to ones expectations.

This transit can lead to daydreaming and fantasies and strong imagination and may support artistic creation but for Libra and Taurus it could lead to eerie feelings and poor judgement and being out of tune with reality.   Not a great time to make ungrounded unrealistic decisions so watch your judgment around finances and major decisions into Saturday.  Great time for artists especially on Friday on a day ruled by Venus for imaginative artistic expression.

Still we should note that Venus is moving closer and closer to Mars and this will increase sexual passion and desire and can lead to some aggression.  Still Mars will be softened by Venus’s influence.  Venus misses the Mars conjunction as it is slowing down in speed and gets within only 5 degrees of Mars in Pisces in March.  So use the energy to create great art or have a passionate relationship but given that is is still with Ketu and in the constellation of Shatabhishak, it may remain quirky and in unrealistic fantasy mode do get a realistic take on it before you dive into something.

I am very excited about a new pioneering course on Vedic Psychology and Karma starting starting Feb. 12th.:

FIVE SUNDAYS STARTING FEB. 12TH on Go to Meeting. (2 hour classes)

Most of our karma affects our psychology and mind first and can block us from moving forward in our lives.  Often we buy into our mental patterns and belief structures and they prevent us from moving forward.  If we believe we are a failure in relationships because of a strong influence in our chart, this becomes a self-fulfilling prophecy—but it usually starts as an unconscious mental influence—which does show up in the chart.  There are some more intermediate concepts in Vedic astrology that help reveal these blocks and once we understand and throw the light on them, it is easier to move them out of our life and help us  understand and  reveal the depth of our karma.  Early bird registration available for 125.00.  Five Sundays.   See details at :
