I found this great quote from one of my spiritual teachers about welcoming in the New Year and it struck a deep cord in me given all the anger over the election that lingers and dread about the future it seemed very powerful and given all the difficult transits and churning of Saturn at the end of Scorpio..

“Know that nothing whatsoever, no event can demoralize you. Every event creates some emotions and also has lot of lessons. Usually, we remember the emotions and forget the lessons. Whether pleasurable or unpleasurable, the emotions cause pain. The stronger the craving for the pleasure of the event, the more pain it causes.  Throwing away the emotions and taking the lessons from the event will keep your smile, untouched and unblemished by the event.

Life is a mixture of pleasant and unpleasant. Imagine if a mother serves only desserts all the time. Similarly nature also likes to serve you all types of things on your plate..sometimes salad, sometimes noodles, sometimes hot peppery soup. The wise one enjoys them all. It’s time to grow up to appreciate the healthy diet that is provided to us. So your plate is full of all varieties.Every year a new plateful is given. Don’t eat the stale food. Don’t fill your calendar with past events.” –SSRS

The planets are gradually lightening up a bid after the Venus/Ketu conjunction on Jan. 7th and Mercury has gone direct but still in the troubling constellation of Moola and Saturn is still creating most of our problems as it churns up emotional dread. We need daily spiritual practice and wisdom because the influence will not go away easily. Remember, Saturn does well with routine, hard work, discipline and being in your body and yoga and massage  and meditation so you can handle all the dread that way.

Continue wishing a wonderful New Year.
