EYE ON THE SKY: VENUS CONJUNCT THE SUN OCT 26TH

At various times of the year, planets in the sky may fall behind the Sun and may not be visible due to the blinding energies of the Sun. This is called combustion.  Venus is combust this week from Oct. 21-28th . Usually this  is one of the more difficult events in Vedic astrology particularly when this happens within 2-3 degrees as the significations of the planet are destroyed and the darker energies of the combust planet may arise.  Still this week’s Venus combustion is not a problem this week because it is retrograde, in Libra and with Mercury so it has 3 factors lifting it up!

If you were born with planetary combustion then when it happens in transit, it is particularly activated. Still, if the combust planet is the ruler of your chart, you will always feel a strong impact from the combustion in transit particularly when it is within 2 – 3 degrees.  Hence Taurus and Libra rising will be impacted strongly between Oct. 21-28th with Venus retrograding into the Sun.   As always there are so many combinations and exceptions. In natal charts, more than 10 degrees is usually a problem but any planet within 1 – 4 degrees is particularly damaged.

Then there is the odd case of Cazimi from Medieval astrology where a planet within 17-60 minutes of the Sun (depending on your interpretation) goes into the heart of the Sun and is very energized by it in a positive way.  Opray Winfrey has a Cazimi Venus in her natal chart and it makes her a star and great light being.   Cazimi combustion can spiritualize individuals as it takes away material manifestation and the light of the Divine is infused into the soul with divine rays of the Sun.

Venus Cazimi on Oct. 26th  should be a great day for creativity, artistic development and love. It may increase socializing, luxuriating, going out for fun and amusement. If you are a woman, it may create incredible magnetism and make you Queen for a day and you will attract men more easily. It’s a good day to hit the drawing board if you are an artist. This fulcrum point will last just a day and then the problem issues with Venus combust returns so be sure to watch the transit degree points.

Venus is considered combust when it is in forward motion within 8-10 degrees of the Sun. Retrograde Mercury and Venus however are not considered combust however because in retrograde motion they are considered behind the Sun’s disc and are not impacted.

So the Venus combustion is not a problem this week because it is with Mercury and it is retrograde and it is its own sign of Libra.

Normally Venus combustion would   raise jealousy issues so remember to praise and appreciate others at this time, help them, applaud their success and good fortune. This conjunction can also lead to manipulative energy in relationships, cause annoyances, friction and problems so remember to accept people with all their imperfections or you will likely be seething with anger.

Still, Taurus and Libra rising signs in Vedic astrology may continue to experience intense fatigue as the Sun moves toward Venus so get extra rest and watch over-eating or zoning out watching too many movies or you will get exhausted. Take care of the reproductive organs as problems can happen during this transit. If you are feeling  friction, take a walk and get out the house rather than get into battle with your partner.

The best outlet for Venus frustrated energy during combustion periods would be to do some wild dancing, take a craft class, sing loudly with the radio turned up or go on a wild shopping spree or create a massive artistic dinner with friends that you are not likely to get into fights with.

FACTORS THAT CAN SAVE PROBLEMS WITH COMBUSTION IN A NATAL CHART OR IN TRANSIT:

However, there are a few parameters for natal charts that are known as saving factors for the planet. Sometimes a planet can perform very well in the horoscope if there are other ameliorating factors.

These include:

• If combust, a planet is occupying its own or exaltation sign in the horoscope which is the case with Venus in Libra this year. .
• If combust planet is getting a strong benefic aspect from Jupiter, Mercury or Venus. which is also the case this week with Mercury conjunct Veus in Libra.
• If combust planet is sitting in the house where it gets directional strength like Mercury and Jupiter in the 1st house, Moon and Venus in the 4th house, Saturn in the 7th house and Mars and Sun in the 10th house. This would depend on what time of the day
• If combust planet is exalted and well placed in divisional charts (Especially in D-9 & D-60).
• If combust planet is retrograding in horoscope.
