EYE ON THE SKY: MARS IN CONSTELLATION OF PEGASUS-DEC. 8-27TH
Mars transited into a new constellation on Saturday, Dec. 8th which is know by Western astronomers as Pegasus (sidereal Aquarius 20-Pisces 3.20) and the in the Vedic lore is called Purvabhadrapada. The symbols for this unique nakshatra are a sword, the first two legs of a funeral cot, and a two faced man. The sword represents the ability to cut through negativity to get to the truth. The two faced man indicates the ability to see both sides of an issue but also may be symbolic in Western psychology of our dark side or our shadow. This nakshatra is ruled by the benefic Jupiter, which reflects the high idealism of this asterism but for a star ruled by Jupiter, it has an unusual dark quality to it. On the positive side, this constellation teaches us to lead a life of personal sacrifice with no expectation of glory. On the dark side it can bring out sexual obsessions and greedy power struggles. Luckily in transit, it will be channeling a strong Jupiter that is in Scorpio in the constellation of Anuradha (Scorpio 3.20-16.40) so there is nadi relationship creating strong energy between Jupiter and Mars and supporting courage and dynamic and righteous action.
The deity of this constellation obscure and is called Aja-Ekapada or the one-footed goat that is part of the entourage of Shiva and in Tarot it is connected to the devil card. It is troubling that secret societies like the Illuminati consider the goat god their main deity and this constellation is connected with dark energy. On a symbolic level this is a constellation where the fires of Shiva can destroy those aspects of a decaying society. Given the power struggles going on between George Soros, the CIA and Trump, we wonder what fireworks develop as planets transit through here this Dec, with Mars and Jupiter connected here between the US 12th house of secret and the US 3rd house. (US Chart, July 4, 1776, 6:18 pm, Philadelphia)
For a constellation ruled by Jupiter, this star is can sometimes be connected with negative human traits including paranoia, pessimism, debauchery, violence, cruelty and erratic sexual behavior. It is by far the most intense constellation in the zodiac ranking up there with problem constellations like Jyestha and Ashlesha. If you were born with the Sun here between March 5-17th or have the ascendant or moon here, the major lessons are learning humility and not getting caught in the ego. If you are born under this star, it is important to get devoted to the light and spiritual activity right away. Still people in this constellation are sincere, hard-working and will do anything to achieve their goals. If course if Jupiter, the lord of this star, is well placed and strong in your natal chart like in Pisces or Sagittarius or Cancer or in strong houses like the 1st, 5th or 9th, the higher qualities of the star will emerge promoting spiritual questing. Often great artists are born under this star and will use this dark energy to create great arts. Still people born with this star will have extremes in sexual behavior that may be viewed by society as abnormal or out of the box.
Mars can be a very sexual planet when afflicted and could be at its worst particularly in the first part of the transit until Dec. 23rd where more anger and aggression and sexual energy may come out. The latter part of the transit Dec. 23-27 should be more benign. We wonder if more violence or sexual assault activity and problems in Europe will emerge with this transit.
So the energies of this star are intense. They can lead us to penance, detachment and generosity if you have a strong Jupiter and purification of our dark side. Because Jupiter is connected to Saturn now in transit, it should not be that intense. It is the most Jekyll and Hyde constellation in the zodiac. People born under this constellation may look well-mannered and acceptable on the outside but are they using their wealth and resources to benefit society? Do they have secret sexual agendas in their closet?
It will be interesting to observe if a lot of aggressive and sexual energy emerges with this transit with Neptune close to Mars still in Aquarius stirring the pot. I suspect that it churn up a lot of great energy for writing those pop-boilers that we see on TV like Empire and which are so captivating to watch.
The highest aspect of this constellation is learning to purify our dark side and surrender our ego and find our highest calling for more service and philanthropic action. If you are Aries Rising or Scorpio rising, use the transit here to move through your habits and addictions and become more devoted to the highest.
Jupiter transiting through the auspicious star of Anuradha should support the higher energies and Jupiter will aspect Mars in when Mars goes into Pisces Dec. 27th and this will create an exchange of signs or Parivartana Yoga between Mars and Jupiter between two water or Moksha signs in January with an exact trinal aspect between the on January 25, 2019 and this should bring out the high energies of service. and Jupiter in Mars’s star and this should bring out Mars’s higher energies of service. We will have to think more on this exchange and it will affect different people in different ways with Scorpio, Pisces Cancer and Capricorn benefiting the most.

What critics are saying: ]
The book is accessible for people who do not know much about astrology and is meant for a larger audience and only small parts of it are technical .
The deepest purpose of astrology should allow us to see the Maya or illusion that runs through our mind and blocks us from seeing our own Divinity. Astrology should reveal our hidden patterns and not just affirm what we know about our self already. It is our hidden patterns and blind spots which get us into the most trouble and cause us the most suffering. It takes courage to look at them, bring them into the light and transforms them but that is why we are on the planet. It is much like Bill Murray in Ground Hog Day (1993). How many times do we have to repeat our lives and relive our pain or do we realize our flaws and actively work on them and transform ourselves into a more conscious and active and loving and compassionate person. In this brilliant collection of essays divided into 7 sections, Psychological and Emotional and Spiritual Dimensions of Vedic Astrology, Secrets of the Houses, Blind Spots. Spiritual Astrology, Relationship and Techniques, Barry reveals material beyond the ordinary in unveiling our True Self beyond the illusion. The great spiritual teacher Yogananda was fond of saying that most of what we call the spiritual battle is really a psychological battle and once that battle is won, the spiritual battle is a short one. This book aims to support you in deep spiritual growth with profound psychological insight.
Barry’s spiritual and psychological approach to astrology seeks to cut the puppet strings of the planets that impact our emotions and psychology and bind us to self-blame, doubt and fear, and anger. This useful guide will help you navigate your life.
