EYE ON THE SKY: LUNAR ECLIPSE FOR SEPTEMBER 7TH
We will experience the longest total lunar eclipse since 2022 on September 7, 2025. Totality will be visible from Australia, Asia, Africa, and Europe, meaning around 85% of the world’s population has a chance to witness this eclipse.
You can check the times in your local area at timeanddate.com
In Vedic tradition, eclipses are not considered auspicious to watch in areas where they are visible. Instead, it is recommended to spend the time in meditation. North America will mostly miss this eclipse, except for western Alaska where it will appear.

Astrological Impact
This eclipse occurs at 20°54′ Aquarius and will strongly affect those with Aquarius or Leo rising, especially if key planets (Sun, Moon, Rahu, Ketu, or Ascendant) are near 20–22° of Aquarius or Leo.
The influence is particularly significant if you are running a Moon/Rahu, Rahu/Moon, Sun/Rahu, or Rahu/Sun period in your Vedic cycles. While many people fear eclipses, they can be deeply spiritual gateways—excellent for meditation and personal revelations.
The Spiritual Dimension of Eclipses
Eclipses are best spent in silence, mantra chanting, and meditation. The meditation tends to go deeper during these times. However, emotions and the mind can become unsettled, so it is not a good time to make important decisions.
From my own experience, watching lunar eclipses can trigger irrational fears or strange thoughts. The golden rule: do not act on them. Instead, observe, meditate, and reflect later.
Both of my Gurus have emphasized meditation during eclipses. One of them explained:
“The mind is connected with the Moon, the body with the Earth, and the Sun with both. When all three align, it is a powerful time for spiritual practices. It is not a good time to eat or indulge in pleasures. Conserve energy. From ancient times, it has been said not to eat during eclipses, but to meditate instead. Mantras chanted during eclipses are considered 1,000 times more powerful.”
Practical Guidance
- Stop eating 1–2 hours before the eclipse so that your stomach is empty.
- Do not eat food cooked during the eclipse. Avoid take-out prepared during the eclipse window.
- Mantra chanting and meditation are most auspicious. Chanting a mantra 108 times during an eclipse can equal 10,000 repetitions at other times.
- Use the time to observe subconscious patterns that may surface. While many thoughts will be mental “garbage,” some insights may be profound and worth integrating afterwards.
Broader Themes
The eclipse falls on the Aquarius–Leo axis, highlighting potential tensions between groups and their leaders. Expect hidden truths, scandals, and conspiracies to come to light.
While lunar eclipses influence at least two weeks afterwards, the longer-term impact will be lessened since no major planets will cross this eclipse point in Aquarius for some time.
Final Thoughts
Most people in the Americas will be able to observe the eclipse, yet may feel its impacts during the late morning to afternoon. It is ideal to keep plans simple. If you must eat, keep it simple and light.
Remember: The chaos of thoughts during an eclipse is Maya (illusion). The real gift of the eclipse is the opportunity to access deeper awareness and healing through spiritual practices.
