FOCUS ON TAURUS– SPRING HEAVINESS
SUN IN TAURUS: MAY 14 – JUNE 14Â
VENUS IN TAURUSÂ JUNE 29-JULY 25
MERCURY IN TAURUS–MAY 23-JUNE 5TH
SUN IN THE CONSTELLATION OF KRITTIKAÂ MAY 11-MAY 24 (ARIES 26.40-TAURUS 10)
As we move more fully into Spring, the planets start moving through Taurus.
The shakti of Taurus gives power to bring wealth, social success, prosperity and enjoyment. For Vedic lovers, it is connected to Krishna. The keyword to remember here is blessings, and it is easy to recognize the blessings of Venus, who brings material prosperity to us. Planets placed in Taurus in any part of the chart bring blessings. Still, we of course have to consider all the other aspect of interpretation that we know as Jupiter in Taurus may bring blessings of teachers but will also bring problems with obesity. Taurus, the natural 2nd sign of the zodiac, may get too attached to money, food, or family, and its stubbornness may arise.
Taurus has problems with the fire element or Agni, and hence they have problems with getting up and going, and so the fire planets, Sun, Mars, and Ketu, cause problems.  Taurus is known for being the most earthy of the signs and the most grounded. If you have major planets in Taurus, there is a tendency to get stuck or hold onto money or material things in your life too easily.  Taurus needs help with the fire signs and fire planets, and if they are well placed, then some of these tendencies may not be as strong, and obviously, lots of fiery exercise is important to get this sign moving and unstuck.  There can be a tendency toward heaviness, depression, and melancholy, and one can sense why Jupiter is such an affliction if placed here, causing problems with weight gain, diabetes, and Taurus has to be careful with sweets if Jupiter is afflicting it.Â
Remedy: Planets in Taurus need the air element and they need to exercise and get moving. Vigorous exercise is needed to get moving and to increase flow.  I have know a lot of Taurus rising people and they often love being by the wind at the ocean or taking motorcycle rides as it helps Taurus get invigorated or unstuck.
Venus, the ruler of Taurus can also become a challenging planet for Taurus ascendants because of its rulership of the 6th house. They can be their own greatest enemies.  Moon and Jupiter are other negative planets for it. Moon rules the 3rd house and Jupiter rules the 8th and 11th houses.  Usually Jupiter
The Sun in Taurus is in an enemy’s sign but that may be that the material orientation of Taurus is opposed the Sun’s innate spiritual energies but may excel in politics which is sorely needed in our world.  If you were born with the Sun in Taurus unafflicted, you are artistic, good with people skills, enjoy pleasure, have stamina and a fixed purpose, have traditional values, and are good with business.
SUN IN KRITTKA: (ARIES 26.40-TAURUS 10) MAY 11-MAY 24THÂ
Sun is strong in its own constellation of Krittika until May 24th although some think that it can be out of balance in this position. Sun has immense courage and confidence during this transit and can create great power to handle difficult situations. People born May 11 – 24th have a warm, fierce and supportive energy and know how to use their power wisely.  The Sun loses energy May 14 – 15th as it changes signs and is weak in degrees but then moves into the 2nd Pada, May 15 – 17th where the mind feels secure and nurtured. The third Pada (May 18 – 21st) is always the most challenging section as loss, suffering and churning of deep fires of purification can happen here. Finally, the 4th pada, (May 22 – 24) is owned by Pisces is particularly strong and has hidden positive qualities.
Prash Trivedi notes that Western astronomers connect this constellation with the Pleiades or the seven sisters. The ruling planet of the constellation is the Sun with Agni, the God of Fire, as the residing deity. The Shakti of this lunar mansion is ‘the power to burn away the negativity to get to the truth.’ This energy will be welcome given all the smoke and mirrors with politics and the media. It has a stronger nature for fulfilling material desires and its symbol is a razor, which cuts through the “bull” to get through to the truth.
The constellation allows one to go through extreme purification and get through blocks on the path.
Of course, Leos do best with the transit, as it is a 10th house transit where status and career can flourish. Cancer rising also enjoys fulfillment of desires and great friendships during this transit. Aries and Scorpios may get a bit of a relationship burn if they cannot tone down their drive for success at all costs. Geminis may have trouble with the 12th house transit of the Sun and may not feel noticed, have problems with self-confidence, or have issues with father and government.
