THE DISCIPLINE AND DYNAMICS OF THE 6TH HOUSE: RISING ABOVE THE CHALLENGES OF HEALTH AND CO-WORKERS

THE DISCIPLINE AND DYNAMICS  OF THE 6TH HOUSE: RISING ABOVE THE CHALLENGES OF HEALTH AND CO-WORKERS

The 6th house is a house of enemies, disease, litigation, digestive power and everyday work. In the 5th, we  learned how to express our feelings and concepts to others.  In the 6th, we have to work with, and even defeat others and  their responses to us.   The 6th house is house of karmic difficulties that express themselves through enemies, debts, struggles and challenges to serving others in life. It represents the drudgery of going to work everyday and having the discipline to do it.  The key to the  6th house is the ability to overcome our obstacles and having the courage fight and overcome them.  Of the three most challenging houses the 6th, 8th,and 12th, the 6th house is the e...

SATURN, FEAR AND THE ILLUSION OF THE END OF THE WORLD

EYE ON THE SKY: ENOUGH DOOM AND GLOOM ALREADY

Saturn at the end of Scorpio in the gandanta/drowning area is stirring up a lot of intense fear and suffering and it said that Saturn does its most damage in the final 10 degrees of a sign and certain is stirring up a hornet’s nest with Hurricanes, pending volcanoes, earth quakes, wild fires and prophecies around the end of the world.  Saturn will not give us much relief until after Thanksgiving when it gets beyond the first 3 degrees of Sagittarius but is particularly difficult 29.20-0.40 where it will be Oct. 19-Nov 2nd.  Rahu in the gandanta area of Cancer is also rather problematic. As my friend Muhammad Imram points out,

“Ashlesha gandanta is more poisonous gandanta for its rulership of “nagas” (serpents)...

FALL EQUINOX TODAY: REST, CELEBRATE AND MEDITATE

EYE ON THE SKY: FALL EQUINOX

The Fall equinox is at 3:02 pm on Friday, Sept 22nd Eastern time in the US. The ancient cultures always took time to celebrate during this time and do extra spiritual practice. The planetary energies get a bit weird as they re-balance and the tendency is to try to do too much during the change of seasons and this can lead to sickness.  Yesterday, I had this maniacal energy and cleaned up my office like a white tornado but then felt a bit bit exhausted and out of balance so go easy.  We are shifting into fall which is moving the outward solar energy of the world which has been toward action toward the quieter inward energy of the autumn and winter which is more inward.  Nature is shutting down her production for the year and we need to honor that.

Take it ...

WORKING WITH SADE SAT: IS IT HYPED TOO MUCH?

EYE ON ASTROLOGY: UNDERSTANDING THE 7.5 YEARS OF SATURN

Most people know know a little Vedic astrology get caught up in a huge fear around Sade Sat, the 7.5 years from Saturn goes through the 12th, 1st and 2nd house from your moon.  If  you have a Libra moon, you will finish Sade Sat when Saturn moves into Sagittarius on Oct. 26th. If you have a Sagittarius moon, you will start your Sade Sat at that time.

Actually Sade Sat can  also be applied to rising sign and your sun sign so if you really want to get all bent out of shape, depending on your chart, you could have some level of sade sat happening much of your life. Is it all bad? Of course not. So much of your life will have Saturn and it is a good thing as it inspires us to be responsible to move toward meditation and the Divine.

STORMY WEEK AND PURIFICATION: UNDERSTANDING SUFFERING

EYE ON ASTROLOGY:  STORMY WEEK

Its still pretty intense out there and threat of Hurricane Maria is kind of an external metaphor for the storms of emotion brewing.  The Kala Sarpa Yoga is in place now until Oct. 2nd and while there are different interpretations of it, the lunar and solar energies are out of balance. My sense is that the solar energies are dominating and feeding Rahu and this creates an underlying agitation in the world. The Nine Days of Mother Divine starts on the 20th as well as the Jewish New Year and this is a time for deep psychological introspection, purification and this is particularly true of the first three days devoted to Durga...

NINE DAYS OF MOTHER DIVINE: SEPT 20-29th: JOURNEY OUT OF THE WOMB INTO FULLNESS

EYE ON THE SKY: FOCUS ON VEDIC FESTIVALS

Navaratri: Sept. 20-29th : Journey toward Enlightenment.

A special time of year begins Wednesday with the new moon in Virgo, Navaratri.  These 9 days and nights begin from the first day of the journey of moon from new moon towards its fullness. This Year it is from Sept. 20-Sept 29th . Each day in these nine days the sap of our energy rises chakra by chakra to reach the crown. ( Some temples are starting on Sept. 21st because the new moon is after midnight.)
On the  first day, Sept. 20th,  we invoke Durga as “Ma Shailaputri”. She is the daughter of the great Himalayas. She has made up her mind to rise from the great earth below to the heavens above. She is invincible and immovable like the great Himalayas itself.

Below is a beautiful description ...

EYE ON THE SKY: YOUR WEEKLY ASTROLOGICAL WEATHER FORECAST

Hopefully you have a lot of good new beginnings and endings happening in your life with Jupiter now in Libra and Rahu in Cancer–no matter how you calculate it. Hopefully the planetary war with Mars/Mercury completing this weekend is treating you well. So what is ahead this week? Big week ahead with the fall equinox on Friday, Sept. 22nd and the Nine Days of Mother Divine starting on Sept. 20th.

Virgo is one of my favorite signs. Whenever a planet appears in Virgo it means where we need to be better, improve or be purer...

LAKSHMI AND THE EIGHT ASPECTS OF WEALTH: GETTING READY FOR NAVARATRI

EYE ON THE SKY: LAKSHMI AND THE EIGHT ASPECTS OF WEALTH

With the Nine Days of Mother Divine beginning on the 20th, it is time to focus on the broader aspects of Lakshmi and  wealth and not just physical and material money.

We usually think of wealth as material comfort but Vedic texts remind us that it is much more. Wealth should include health, success, courage, friendliness, skills and talents, dignity and memory of one’s Divine nature.   (this is part of a talk present at the British Association of Vedic Astrologers in London in April 2015)

Part 1:  LAKSHMI AND THE 8 FORMS OF WEALTH:

Many of us are so wealthy, and yet we do even realize it?    We have been trained to measure wealth in terms of our bank accounts or our investment portfolios rather than see it from a broader perspec...

SECRETS OF THE 8TH HOUSE: AND “Shh” IT IS A SECRET.

EYE ON ASTROLOGY: SECRETS OF THE 8TH HOUSE: AND IT IS REALLY IS A SECRET.

The 8th house, like its natural counterpart the 8th sign of the zodiac, Scorpio is a mystical, sexual, transformative place filled with mystery,  surprise and highly charged energy. Its transits are dreaded but if we master it, it brings us major life transformation and new light to move toward liberation and freedom.  The 8th house is like the magician’s magical box—anything that goes in it can be transformed.   Will the lady get sawed in half and become a different person entirely. While many dread 8th house transits and dashas, we can understand and embrace them for deep knowledge and transformation.

Traditionally the 8th house governs research, addictions, kundalini energy, occult power, knowledge of astr...
