EYE ON THE SKY: RARE 12 YEAR EXCHANGE OF SIGNS BETWEEN JUPITER AND MERCURY NOV. 29-FEB. 3RD.
Every 12 years when Jupiter is in Virgo and Mercury transits through Sagittarius, there is a rare Parivartana yoga or what is know as mutual reception by Western astrology with Mercury in Jupiter’s sign and Jupiter in Mercury’s sign. It is as if Jupiter suddenly gets to be in Sagittarius its own sign and Mercury gets to be in its sign of exaltation, Virgo.
Virgo represents the concept of perfection through purification and service and is very analytical, has high standards, is sensitive, ideal, hard-working, skilled in writing and numbers.
Sagittarius is aspiring, idealistic, loves sports and courageous events, is into truth, ethics, humanitarian concerns and freedom.
Mercury and Jupiter are enemies but there are no malefic aspects on Virgo or Sag. so we expect that the most positive qualities of this yoga in transit will come out. The ability to discriminate and think more deeply and wisely and become involved in higher learning will be enhanced. In general this expands wisdom and discrimination for everyone and supports speaking, counseling, publishing, childhood education and philanthropy but the impact will be different for different people. We have not seen this exchange since January 2005 and January 1993. If you have children or know people born with this yoga, it will be most activated now in transit or for people running Mercury/Jupiter or Jupiter/Mercury periods, it will also have a larger impact.
If you are ruled by a dual sign, i.e. Gemini, Virgo, Pisces and Sagittarius you will also feel the impact of this yoga most. It will generate issues around expansion and deep insight around career and relationship issues and success with property and vehicles and maternal issues because of the fact that 1, 4, 7th and 10th house are involved. Development of career, advance of spouse’s career, gains from property and status can all be activated if you are running the right cycles and have the right rising sign. Scorpios and Leos also benefit greatly. Fixed signs will have some mixed results with Scorpios having more issues with money and friendship and family in a good way being activated. Finally Leo will benefit from family and children and romance, spiritual knowledge and investment due to the exchange between the 2nd and 5th houses.
The rule is that if the yoga involves the 6, 8 or 12th house it produces a more challenging situation so Libra, Aries and Aquarius and Cancer rising charts may find the exchange more challenging. Capricorns may have issues dealing with their father, challenges with foreign countries or problems with religion and spiritual teachers given the exchange between the 9th and 12th house. Taurus rising may have more issues and problems with children, investments and romance given the exchange between the 5th and the 8th house. Cancer rising is more challenged by this exchange with problems with siblings and co-workers or employees. Aquarius rising may have mixed results around 8th and 11th house issues involving legal issues or karmic problems around friends or income or health issues may arise.
I looked up Jan. 1993 and Jan. 2005 in history and both had major riots in India related to religious fanaticism happening during that exchange and will have to look at the natal chart of India. Given the currency crisis there, this yoga in transit is not likely to be that helpful.
