KETU’S TRANSIT INTO DHANISHTA/DELPHNI APRIL-NOV. 2017

EYE ON THE SKY: KETU  IN DHANISHTA APRIL 29-DEC. 2ND  (Capricorn 23.20-Aquarius 6.40)

Ketu  moves into the constellation of Delphini the Dolphin know in Vedic astrology as Dhanishta  April 29th if you use the true  node calculation. (I like true nodes for transits).   It is a long transit as nodal transits through nakshatras take about 6-7 months and it will have a long-term influence for the 2nd half of the year.

Ketu is like Mars and is connected to Scorpio  with its heat and is earthy nature and  is the connected to the clay that the Goddess Parvati created Ganesh from, the beloved elephant that is connected with astrology. Ganesh is thought to be connected to the root chakra and connected to the kundalini energy. Ketu supports mathematical thinking and computer programming.  Symbolically Ketu rules doors and locks and can playfully create obstacles but removes them at the same time. Ketu is great for spiritual endeavors but not material ones. Still, Ketu can bring wealth, accomplishment, and promotion even when someone doesn’t want it or need it.

The constellation of Dhanishta (Capricorn 23.20-Aquarius 6.40)  is connected to music and mastery over the material plane. Its nature is very diverse as it can adapt to any situation it finds itself in.  This constellation is ruled by Mars and so Mars’s transits this 2nd half of the year will be key for impacting Ketu.  Until late August, Mars is in enemies’ signs (Taurus until May 27th and Gemini  until July 11th) and these transits will impact Ketu as Ketu will be channeling Mars’ energy.  The influence is more complicated in the summer when Mars will be   in its sign of debilitation in Cancer (July 11-August 27th)  this will churn up more explosive violence and terrorism this summer but for now Mars is connected to Venus and is a  benefic and is enjoying the sensual pleasures of the world like good food and relationship and sexual union and luxuries with Venus so strong in Pisces until May 30th.

So what does Ketu mean in this constellation? Ketu is connected to the past and past lives and this transit will incite reconnecting with past periods where the soul has done good service work and received good benefits. It can bring a great time for inner cleansing for preparation for more spiritual growth. The first part of the transit in Pada 4 of Scorpio navamsha (Aquarius 3.20-6.40) until June 2nd will create strong intuition and action to do great humanitarian service work.  The transit through the 2nd pada (Aquarius 0.00-3.20) between June and late August is connected to Libra is more problematic as it this pada promotes martial harmony and social and relational activity and Ketu, the mystic and loner will not be happy here and will disrupt the party.

KETU/RAHU AXIS BETWEEN DHANISHTA AND MAGHA:

Ketu always brings Rahu with for the ride and Rahu remains in Magha/Regulus  (Leo 0.00-13.20) until Sept. 10th in the true node system.  Rahu continues to support fame and status and growth in one’s field but being in Ketu’s constellation, it gets confused trying decide between spiritual growth or material success. ( I can personally an attest to this issue coming up in my life over the past 6 months.)    Ketu in Aquarius is still in an enemies sign ruled by Saturn until Sept 10th and then for the next year and a half in Capricorn  and Mars’ constellation of Dhanishta continues to create a push/pull like a Mars/Saturn conjunction between having the courage to go forth and conquer and at the same time  being saddled with restrictions.  If resolved (and the period until June is a better one for this), the intense desire for liberation and freedom can triumph.  The key will be to celebrate your material successes and channeling the energy into humanitarian service to gain liberation.   The trick will be to see the illusion and maya of the material world and fame and status  and use the energy to strive toward something higher.  Remember past spiritual achievements and service should propel and inspire you to do more for humanity and not get sucked into the illusion of fame and status that Rahu in Leo and Magha is propelling you toward.

MORE ON THE CONSTELLATION OF DHANISHTA/DELPHHI: (Capricorn 23.20-Aquarius 6.40)

Still Dhanishta is a very satvic constellation and the first part of the transit by Ketu in the Scorpio pada is place of strength (April 29-June 3) .   Ketu in Dhanishta beckons us to let go of ego and go out and do some service work or at least donate to charity to utilize this energy. This constellation can give fame and abundance if you do not get caught up in personal glory. Go for the highest and support your favorite charity.

People with Sun, moon or their ascendant in this constellation of Dhanishta are brave warriors, often military leaders, do well with sports and are ambitious. One can  also excel here in organizational leadership and are very disciplined. It bestows wealth and success for people particularly if Mars and Saturn are well-placed in people’s charts. The symbol of this star is the drum and the Sanskrit name means the wealthiest or the most beneficent or the most heard of.  The constellation is ruled by the 8 Vasus which are usually connected to 8 gods. Shiva is the main deity of this constellation and which destroys ignorance and the craziness of the mind but does so with musical grace.

IMPACT ON VARIOUS RISING OR MOON SIGNS:

Scorpio rising  which is  co-ruled by Ketu will do best with the transit after September 10th when Ketu transits into Capricorn as it is a 3rd house transit of Ketu.   Before then, Ketu  will be afflicted by a weaker Mars in transit in Taurus, Gemini and Cancer but things get better when Mars goes into  into Leo, August 27th.  Aquarians will continue to be challenged by this transit until September 10th as it can bring problems  with leadership and authority and can make Aquarians more reclusive, meditative and cause hidden health problems and bring up deep healing of the past.  Leos will continue to be plagued by personal ambition and status at the cost of relationship success through Sept. 10th unless you  have a very devotional partner who will be your personal fan and champion.  Pisces and Virgo continue to do better with the transit as it is 11th and 6th from the ascendent.   Other rising signs are more challenged.  If you have natal chart planets 0-6 degrees of Aquarius or 0-6 degrees Leo, this transit will particularly stir up the hornet’s nest depending on the planet and rising sign.

Note: Peoples charts and transits are very individual and we write general articles that maybe useful to all our readers. In reality, Vedic astrology is very much like reading very specific strands of DNA.
